Pinecrest Academy, Cumming, Georgia's Lower School was housed in modular classrooms, dining and administration buildings for more than 20 years. With deteriorated modular conditions, this part of the campus needed upgrading/replacement to the permanent brick building type that the rest of the campus features. Lyman Davidson Dooley was selected to provide full architectural and interior design services for the new 19,125 s.f. Lower School Classroom Building which becomes the new face for the Lower School. The building houses classrooms from K-5 for approximately 300 students, oratory/chapel, clinic, teacher's workrooms, and administrative offices. The Lower School building opened doors in August 2019, starting the process of replacing more of the modulars as this new building expands.
The Team was led by David McBrayer, AIA, LEED AP, Principal and Education Studio Director and featured Krista Igou Atwell and Jessica Alexander providing design and documentation. Interior Design services were provided by Milli Dunkin, RID, IIDA, LEED AP, Principal and Interior Studio Director and Jordan Mayfield, NCIDQ, IIDA, Designer.
